From Thursday 22 June until Sunday 25 June, the Gibraltar Rugby Football Union host the Gibraltar Rugby 7s tournament. Following two previous fantastic events in 2021 and 2022, the Gibraltar 7s returns again to the Europa Sports Park in 2023.

The tournament will feature 25 teams across 4 competitions
- Rugby 7s Men’s Elite – 7 teams
- Rugby 7s Men’s Open – 7 teams
- Rugby 7s Women – 7 teams
- Rugby 10s Veterans (Vets) – 4 teams
Plus a Corporate Tag tournament
Rugby 7s teams consist of 12 players + 2 support staff (max 14)
Rugby sevens is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players playing seven minute halves12. It is a fast-paced and exciting game that is popular at all levels, from amateur to professional1. Rugby sevens is also a current Olympic sport, making its debut in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro2. Rugby sevens is administered by World Rugby, the body responsible for rugby union worldwide.
Tag Rugby is a mixed competition with max squad size of 10
Tag rugby, or flag rugby, is a non-contact team game in which each player wears a belt that has two Velcro tags attached to it, or shorts with Velcro patches.
Rugby 10s will consist of a maximum squad size of 15
Rugby tens, also known as ten-a-side and Xs, is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of ten players, typically five forwards and five backs. Matches are much shorter, usually played as two ten-minute halves.
